Character

Every year I listen to God and pick a word that will guide me through the next 12 months.  Some years when I have done this it has been a mystery why in the world I was given that word.  Other years I have seen change from the inside out directed from that one word.  I'm not sure I like this process of chewing on a single word for an entire year.  In fact, I become a bit anxious that I will pick the wrong word.  Then I must remind myself that God is in the mix of all of this.  And even if it is the "wrong" word, He will choose to do something in me through it.  So here I go for 2016.  My word for this year is:  Character.  This word came to my mind as I was traveling over Christmas break and then another couple words, but those finally fell away and Character remained.

I'm not sure where this will take me for 2016, but I would imagine that my personal character will be brought to life and like being put in a fire for refinement, I pray to look more like God by the end.  However, I think one reason that this word came to me was due to our church theme for 2016 (upcoming post).  Maybe character will also speak on a level of what role I play in God's story and how well I play my role in my story.  I hope to see new things about Jesus' character and deeper things of the character of those that follow Him.  I'm excited to see this and anxious of what may come.  

I pray that God will use the word Character to mold me more into His image not just for this year, but for the rest of my life.
