What I like about having a word for the year is that when the year is done, the word has become a part of me and won't go away simply because a new word is coming. I look forward to 2016 and a new word from the Lord.
![]() The word I chose for 2015 is FOLLOW. This is a hard word to evaluate for my life. My work and life requires that I lead in many ways. However, I accepted the word God gave me and what I can say is that in many situations where I wanted to trample folks, instead I waited patiently and followed God's call. In the moments where I was intentional about following actually made me a better leader and listener. In the moments where I went on leader auto-pilot I was reminded at the end that I could have been a better listener. There are times when people need a leader who will rush into battle, sword drawn without hesitation. And there are times where people need a leader who lands on his knees with a face lifted up to the heavens and ask for guidance to help lead the people. I hope that throughout 2015 I practiced both of these. What I like about having a word for the year is that when the year is done, the word has become a part of me and won't go away simply because a new word is coming. I look forward to 2016 and a new word from the Lord.
