I love to dream, envision, plan, and spend time thinking about what could be. I'm a dreamer! Dreaming and spending time casting vision is what gets me most excited. I know that you don't have to reinvent the wheel, but it is almost impossible for me to do something just like someone else has done it. I absolutely love the brainstorming session and throwing out ideas. Then I will take those ideas and begin to dream big dreams with them. It is who I am and it is what I do. Even if the dreams never come to fruition, my joy was dreaming them in the first place. Scott Belsky says there are 3 types of people: Dreamers, Doers, and Incrementalists. I heard him say that two years ago at a conference. I was convinced that day and still am convinced that out of the three I'm the dreamer.
Dreaming is needed, but not at the expense of the other two types. This blog is dedicated to dreaming. God knows all about dreaming. He dreamed up this Earth and all that is in it. He dreamed up the entire creation. And even when his dream was stained with the sin of man, He dreamed again. His dream was always to offer a plan of love through redemption and restoration. His dream has become our dream as well. As much as God is a dreamer, He is infinite and even more than all three of these types. I don't want to personify God and take away from his divinity, but we need to know that we get our traits from our Father.
When I create a sermon I first am dreaming. I am thinking through all aspects of the main focus of that lesson. Later I will edit those ideas, but first I am living in the dream. I also begin dreaming about what this could mean for those hearing the message. What could it mean for the church? What does it mean for me and my journey?
Dreams are good and pure. When you are dreaming, the dream always ends just like you envision it. When you are casting a vision you are proclaiming what a particular thing or idea would be at its best. Maybe that is why I love the dream so much. Maybe that is why I'm a dreamer. Because reality changes the dream. The dream can come to a worse or greater end, but in the end the dream is just that; the dream.
Are you a dreamer? Why do you love seeing the vision or the dream?
